What local SEO means for a small business
Local search is not the same game as national SEO. You are not trying to rank for a word across the whole country. You are trying to show up for the people within driving distance who need what you sell this week, on the map and in the results under it.
What we work on
- Google Business Profile. Categories, services, hours, photos and posts kept accurate and active, because the profile is what decides the map results.
- Your website. Page titles, headings and content that say clearly what you do and where you do it, so Google can match your pages to local searches.
- Service and area pages. A page for each service you want to be found for, instead of one page trying to rank for everything.
- Analytics. Search Console and analytics set up so you can see which searches show your business, which pages people land on, and what they do next.
An ongoing job, not a one-off
Local SEO is not a one-time job. Search results move, competitors change their profiles, and Google changes what it shows. We keep checking what your business is showing up for, fix what is holding it back, and keep your profile and pages current.
We tell you plainly what changed and why. If a change did not move anything, we say so, and we try something else.
What we need from you
Access to your Google Business Profile and your website, and a short list of the services you most want more of. Real photos of your work and your team help more than almost anything else on the profile, so send them when you have them.
Common questions
What is the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?
Regular SEO tries to rank a website across a wide area. Local SEO is about showing up for people nearby, which depends heavily on your Google Business Profile and the map results as well as your website.
Do I need a website, or is a Google Business Profile enough?
A profile alone can get you calls, but a website gives Google far more to match against searches and gives customers somewhere to check you out. Our guide, Do You Need a Website With a Google Business Profile?, goes through when a profile alone is genuinely enough.
How long before local SEO shows results?
It depends on how established your profile and site already are and how competitive your trade is locally. We look at your starting point first and tell you honestly what to expect.
